Basketry Books

I've listed the Basketry Books I own with comments about their contents.
These are only my own humble opinions and I'm sure many would not agree with all of them.
Many are now out of print but you might try to get any that sound useful to you through your local inter-library loan program or a used book store.

The Techniques of Basketry
by Virginia I. Harvey
Copyright 1978
ISBN 0-442-20966-5

Contains history, materials and tools, coiling, twining, wicker work and splint work, and plaiting.
It ends with chapters on beginning, finishing and some unusual details.
Directions are clear and examples are inspiring.

Willow Spokes and Wickerwork
by Cleo M. Stephens
Copyright 1975
ISBN 0-8117-1900-6

I don't have much use for the instructions on weaving palm fronds but I found the chapters on willows, cattails, reeds and grasses very helpful. I really want to try making sandals out of cattails this summer.

A Modern Approach to Basketry with Fibers and Grasses
Using Coiling, twining, weaving, Macrame, and Crochet
by Dona Z. Meilach

IBSN 0-517-516896 paperback

The title nicely explains what is in this one. Lots of good instructions and loads of wonderful photographs for inspiration. This is my favorite Basket book
